One of my favourite families!

Why is this one of my favourite families you ask? I’ve known them for a number of years – they’re my neighbours! I’ve watched these boys grow up alongside mine and now, they’re young men! I’ve photographed the boys over the years with my own kids, but we’ve never found the time to do a family session. I guess it’s one of those things we tend to put off, eh? Life gets busy, we have iPhones that capture our day-to-day routines, so why book a photography session? Professional photography just can’t be compared to an iPhone pic. Artwork that will grace the walls of your home for years to come – that’s just priceless! Of course, I always urge my clients to opt for printed products, because you KNOW how hard it is to get digitals off that USB and printed, right?? RIGHT??! I was the same, but let me tell you, when my mother in law passed away, we were scrambling for ONE decent image of her for the funeral leaflet. We could not find a single decent image. Not even an iPhone pic. When I travelled to South Africa to be with my mum who was having an operation, I probably took 8 or 10 images on a silly video cam I had with me. Not a single decent image of mum and I. And just ONE of dad an I.

Once I’d returned home, I beat myself up about it. What if something happened to them? I would have NO recent images, no decent images, no memories of the hugs and cuddles while I was there. Thank the Lord for keeping them safe though. Because they travelled out to Australia in 2016 and did I ANNOY them with all my photos LOL I made up my mind that I was going to get as many selfies and proper photos as I could. And so I did just that. What’s more, we didn’t just leave them on our hard drives, phones, etc. We had them printed. Printed memories of our time together. Since 2015, I’ve made photo books of our family’s year. Such a great way to go over the memorable times we’d shared.

At any rate, I digress majorly! Shirley’s session was meant to be a mini-session, but she was the last client of the day, so I extended it a bit and took them to a park after our indoor studio session. It was a sweltering hot day, so thankfully by the time we got out, it had cooled down. Take a look at some of my favourites from their session.

So there you go. Get out there. Book those sessions. Take those selfies and GET THEM PRINTED! :)
